Community Interview: Gizmoxia BE

Genuine Gamers (GG): Let’s start off with a simple question.  What is your gamertag and what made you choose it?

Gizmoxia: My gamertag is “Gizmoxia BE”, I chose this gamertag because I’m a huge fan of the Gremlins movies, the main character in those movies is called Gizmo. About five years ago I started my own gameshop and called it Gizmoxia, so the gamertag was an obvious choice. And BE stands for Belgium, which is where I’m from.

GG:  Tell us a little about yourself?

Gizmoxia: I’m 26 years old and have been a gamer since the mid 80′s. I started on the Atari 2600 and just couldn’t let go of the controller. I ended up buying as much consoles and games as possible. Many years later I started my own gamesshop and developed an interest for the Xbox, as a hug Dreamcast fan, I saw some great games that found it’s sequels on the Xbox. I eventually decided to start a Xbox community blog (XET360.be) which is a big hit here. Besides games I’m also interested in movies, I like going to the cinema and I also collect alot of DVD’s.

GG:  What made you get into gaming, and in particular Xbox 360?

Gizmoxia: I received the Atari 2600 when I was very young from a friend who just got a NES, that’s  when the gaming-bug bit me. As said before, I saw a lot of potential in the Xbox, lot’s of great Dreamcast sequels and super first party games.

GG:  How long have you been gaming for?

Gizmoxia: That would be about 22 years now (Dear lord I’m getting old…)

GG:  You’re an Xbox Ambassador and also a Moderator.  Can you tell us how you got involved in these projects?

Gizmoxia: About three years ago I participated in an event that Microsoft Belgium organised, the point was to get some kind of promo team together, this eventually turned into a groupblog. Microsoft saw that we were doing a good job and offered all the bloggers the Ambassador status. I was asked to become a moderator as well when the Belgian forum started going south.

GG:  Can you advise gamers what the benefits of the Ambassador programme and what you do as a Moderator?

Gizmoxia: Well, basically it’s just a fun thing to do, I love helping people who have questions and from time to time we get some insider news. It’s always fun to know you get information first. My job as a moderator is to make sure that everyone does what they should do, help people who need it and clean up where a mess gets made.

GG:  Can you describe your best Live experience and who/what it involved?

Gizmoxia: I think that would be playing against the developers of Lost Planet, I actually beat them in that game with the highest score

GG:  What’s your favourite game on the Xbox and roughly how many hours have you racked up?

Gizmoxia: Halo 3, no doubt. I play it as much as I can. I really couldn’t tell you how long I’ve played it, but it’s ALOT!

GG:  Out with playing on your Xbox, what else do you get up to in your spare time?

Gizmoxia: I don’t really have much spare time, but the time that I have, I spend with friends or go watch a movie.

GG:  What’s on your gaming radar for this year and what do you think will be the biggest game?

Gizmoxia: As a big Capcom fan I’d have to say Resident Evil 5 and Street fighter IV. Though, I’m also looking forward to Halo Wars en Halo ODST.

GG:  Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions and giving our readers an insight to what you do.  Just one last question before you go though.  If you could be any computer game character, who would you be and why?

Gizmoxia: An ODST marine (Halo), I just love those guys, even more than the Spartans (I know it’s weird..). I’ve read the Halo novels and they’re just awesome when you get some background on those guys.
